Evil Empires
First up is a news story regarding Wal-Mart and how they plan on pushing out their higher paid, more tenured employees in favor of ones that are willing to work at any time and under a wage cap. Of course Wally World denies it, despite corroboration by ex-managers.
The second is an Op-Ed article that draws comparisons between events in the Roman Republic and post-9/11 US. I'm sure staunch Reight Wingers will dismiss it as liberal prattle, but you know what they say about those who don't learn from history...
I guess today's theme is too much power in too few hands is a bad thing, both in business and government. Wal-Mart has become so powerful in business that it has become a bully. And as the Federal government gets more and more power without checks... well, you do the math.
