198

Even though the challenged ended, I seem to still be dropping pounds. Last week I had an ex-co-worker that hadn't seen me in a year or two gush over how much weight I've lost, and this week I had to reject wearing one of my shirts because it looked like I was wearing a Hawaiian tent.

199!

I technically flirted with 199 earlier but bounced back up a pound, but now that pound is gone again (I wait until the second day at a weight to count it). I got on and off the scale three times, partly to make sure it was right and partly to make sure it was real.

I actually had an employee at another location who hadn't seen me in ages ask me if I was okay because I'd lost so much weight. Okay, I don't want people to think I have cancer or something, but it's nice to know people see a significant difference.

200! Ding!

A long standing goal finally reached. But now I really want to lose one more so that my weight will start with a 1 instead of a 2. Losing that pound will be challenge this weekend... my tribe is feasting for Lughnasadh and I'm going to go see a movie. Sounds like extra penance at the gym tomorrow.

201 and 2 weeks left

Here we are again, 201. Last time was just before Christmas, and now I am again knocking on the door of 200. Could I get 199 by GenCon? It would be the first time my weight hasn't started with a 2 in years.

I have to thank Nicole and her Six Pound Challenge for shaking me out of my complacency and motivating me to exercise a little discipline.

202: The Six Pound Challenge continues

I'm hoping I'm not jinxing myself by posting this going into the weekend. I just have to stay good (already did my penance at the gym today and made it through the grocery store with no munchies, goodies or other indulgences).

I hit 203 two days ago, so hopefully this momentum will carry me not only through the challenge but past the 200 pound barrier.

204: 3 is half of 6

The first part of any weight loss endeavor is always the easiest. I knocked out most of the indulgences that had crept into my routine, scaled back portions a bit where I could and kept to my gym goal.

That's not to say I was a dietary saint... I had popcorn when I went to the movie and I still eat more fast food than I should, but I am eating less of all the above. And I know if I go on some sort of deprivation, soon I will crack and binge and all of my work will be undone.

I'm sure the fact that I haven't had any beer doesn't hurt either. I've had a six-pack sitting in my fridge since before the Barfleet party, back it just hasn't sounded appealing. And when I do finally crack open a bottle, it's Michelob Ultra, so not as bad as many other beers. I don't think I want to know how many calorie a McEwan's Scotch Ale has in it.

207: The Six Pound Challenge

My friend Nicole set a goal of losing 6 pounds by GenCon and challenged me to do the same. Give that my weight loss had ceased and even reversed a little, I needed something to prod me out of my complacent state.

After deciding that making a food bet would be counter-productive, we decided just to throw down the weight gauntlet in our blogs. Nothing like the public eye to make your self-conscious about stopping by Culver's for a caramel cashew sundae or hitting the gym even though you'd rather go home and loaf.

So my official weigh in for the start of our challenge is 207. If I succeed, odds are good I'll hit my long term goal of getting under 200, as I tend to lose a couple of pounds over GenCon (no snacking and lots of walking).

201

Stay on target... stay on target...

Today I had to sit in the break room with a birthday cake while I had my Slim-fast and cereal bar for lunch. I think my sense of smell has become more acute when it comes to food. But I stayed good, despite my usual mantra of "free food has no calories".

202

Wow, I wasn't kidding when I said stress was slimming! I had to go out and buy new work pants yesterday and another pound fell off.

Normally when I drop to new low weight, my weight bounces up and down in a couple pound range. This time it just stayed at 203 a few days then fell to 202.

I think part of it is that I no longer give in to my stress reaction of eating. While I can still hear the whispers of the cravings wanting candy and salty snacks and pizza, it's been long enough that they are just whispers as opposed to yelling in my ear.

203

Stress is slimming! Sure, I may have picked up a nervous tick in my right eye, but another pound is gone.

While my goal of 200 is very close, I don't think I'll make it by New Year's... barring any serious health issues. While I haven't been putting in a lot of overtime, things have been extremely hectic at work. Plus I found out I get to go to the store I refer to as "Hell On Earth" for a few weeks to help them out with an upcoming inventory and the manager in charge of it being out. As I type this my eyelid is twitching.

204!

Just in time for Turkey Day! I had to check twice to make sure this was right. I guess not succumbing to the stress munchies (I had them baaaad last night) paid off.

Now hopefully I don't undo it too badly today.

Last week I got some good encouragement in the form of compliments from a (cute) former co-worker who I don't see often (she still works for the company, but not the same location).

206

It's been a while since I've been able to post one of these. In fact, I had just groused to my friend Nicole on her blog that I hadn't been losing weight. This morning... 206.

I think I see a pattern. While my weight gennerally bounces around in a 3 pound range, right before it goes down it'll stay flat at the current bottom of the range a few days, spike to the top, then over the next few days I'll shed the weight and an extra pound. I'll have to pay closer attention and see if this holds true.

207

I guess all of that walking at GenCon paid off. As I sort through my GenCon pictures I'll have to see if any come close to the angle of my "before" picture.

The closest is this:

I had been bouncing between 210 and 212 during GenCon, but since the Con ended it's been falling. That'd be a nice trend, I'd love to go in to the new year under 200.

36

I had two "big rocks" to go after when I started actually trying to lose weight. One was to get down to 200 pounds, which even though I've made a lot of progress since I started, I seemed to be stalled just under 210.

The other was to get down to a 36 waist.

Last year I needed a pair of grey jeans for my Firefly LARP costume and I bought a comfortable pair of 40s. Yesterday I was shopping and on a lark decided to buy a pair of 36 jeans, as my 38s had been getting loose. I didn't expect to be able to wear them, at least not comfortably, but it would give me a goal to shoot for and hopefully motivate me.

They fit fine and I wore them out. Granted, they are relaxed fit and may shrink a little when I was them, but if anything, it has motivated me more because I was feeling like I've made so little progress the past couple of months.

208

Yay! I've been switching out some of my diet soda for diet tea (I drink a *lot* of diet soda) and added a couple of minutes to the treadmill at the gym.

Still hoping for 200 by GenCon.

210

Yes, I somehow skipped 211. The numbers have been bouncing around 212 to 214 since I hit 212, to the point that I was afraid I'd hit another wall after only 1 pound then it fell to 210. I had to weigh myself again after the first time, but it's solidly 210.

I went into one of the stores I used to work at this week and one of the employees saw me and the first thing they asked was "how much have you lost?" People that see me frequently don't notice when I've lost a pound or two, heck I can't see the difference of a pound or two, so it feels good to get those kind of remarks.

I need to make sure to ask my friend Sherri to take a picture at Beltane with me standing in the same position as I am in my diet picture, so that I can compare the two side by side. That also means I need to take my kilt to the dry cleaners to get a good cleaning and pressing, because ironing it after I was it is a pain in the arse.

212

It's been a while since I posted one of these. The needle has been bouncing between 213 and 215 for weeks now. Of course, the "needle" is in my mind since I now use a digital scale, but you get the idea. Today the readout was 212.

Now I just need to make sure not to "reward" myself with anything that bounces it back up. Maybe all of the recent stress/rage at work has been slimming. If that's the case, I'll be losing more weight.

213

213? Haven't we been here before? Yes. Then between vacation, my birthday, winter storms and illness, I bounced back to the 214 - 215 range and had been stuck. This morning I was back at 213 for the first time in a while.

Hopefully this means I'm cracking this plateau. I'd like to get down to 200 by GenCon.
