A Pagan Republican?

I stumbled across this article which not only talks about a GOP candidate in New York but also about discrimination against pagans and attempts by certain religious groups to smear pagans and try to incite fear of them with lies and hype.

The candidate, Dan Halloran, is a leader in the local Théodish faith, which is a northern European heathen religion. Their site is here.

Asatruar Libertarian here. Got a lot more in common with the repubs than the dems. There's more of us than you think. Every Heathen group we know if primarily conservative in nature. That's what happens when you have large gatherings of mead drinking, deer killing, flesh eating men. Let the wiccan feast of granola...we'll take care of the rest. :-p

I'm a Pagan Republican... I'm not one of those feel-good new-agey Pagans, though, so Rep platforms definitely mesh more with my values than the Dems. I tell you want is sadder than Christians trying to rip down a candidate for being Pagan is how many Pagans will try to rip down a Pagan for being Republican. I think before we can start pointing fingers at others we have to deal with the outright prejudice and hatred in our own community and stop being so reactionary to anything even mildly conservative.
